FRAUDSTER COMES ALIVE
This stunt-based campaign and subsequent social media, online, and website support exposed investment fraudsters for who they really are; smooth talkers with an ability to inject themselves into the life of vulnerable investors, unannounced and unexpectedly. The ‘Fraudster Comes Alive’ stunt video provided content for the BCSC’s social media channels, digital ad campaign and website, highlighting the fraud warning signs and what to do when one encounters them. The stunt and subsequent interviews also gave the BCSC marketing team invaluable insights into investors’ knowledge of the investment fraud warning signs.

STOLEN DREAMS – ZOOMERSHOW
The BCSC trade show team had been to many events, with limited success. Attracting people to the booth was difficult, especially when competing with Beatles tribute bands, vacation destinations, and events for foodies. To attract the target audience we offered free photos in their “dream location”. There were lineups at the booth, a surprise appearance by a fraudster, and investment fraud lessons learned. Once again, the video provided content for the BCSC’s social media channels, digital ad campaign, and website, highlighting the fraud warning signs and what to do when one encounters them.
2-MINUTE MUSICAL
Imagine being at Murchie’s Tea & Coffee in Victoria only to hear a loud, slightly obnoxious and smooth-talking Investment Planner trying to talk his clients into an investment. Not to worry. Customers, staff, and Mark Donnelly (Vancouver Canucks’ anthem singer) came to their rescue, in a song. The 2-minute ‘flash musical’ was repeated a dozen times throughout the day, which prompted some customers to call friends down to Murchie’s for a few viewings.

PLANNING 10
Many students leaving high school have weak financial life skills and little knowledge of the financial realities they will soon face. As a result, they make costly mistakes and may fall prey to scams and frauds.
The BCSC views education as an important tool of securities regulation so they created The City, a unique, multi-media resource (including website) to help teachers deliver the government-mandated Planning 10: Finances curriculum. This video was created for teachers as a tutorial and peer endorsement.
